Omani real estate deals up 44% in 2015

Mubasher: Total real estate deals in the Sultanate of Oman rose 43.7% by the end of 2015 as the traded value of real estate activities came to OMR 4 billion, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

The collected fees for all legal actions reached OMR 48.6 million, with an increase of 21.2%, the traded value of sales also leapt by 17.3% to OMR 1.356 billion.

However, the number of sales fell to 79,613 contracts by the end of the year, compared to 80,470 contracts in 2014.  

Mortgage contracts value rose by 61.7% to OMR 2.756 billion for the period, versus OMR 1.709 billion a year ago.

The number of mortgage contracts reached 22,414 last year, rising 17.8% compared to 19,330 contracts executed in 2014.

Also, swap contracts recorded a 21.4% increase to OMR 18 million in 2015, compared to OMR 15.200 million in 2014. The number of swap contracts leapt too by 21.8% to 1,367 against 1,122 contracts.

The number of issued ownerships rose 9.3% to 224,617 last year from 223,713 in 2014.
