The telecommunications company noted that there are many applications of 5G, including autonomous vehicles, robotic surgery, and augmented and virtual reality sports.

The 5G commercial service experience will improve spreading Smart Cities and Smart Stadiums in the world's richest country per capita, Ooredoo added.

The company did not give further details concerning the cost of the new service.

By the end of 2017, Ooredoo’s profits declined 10.3% to QAR 1.96 billion compared to QAR 2.19 billion a year earlier.
