Cairo – Mubasher: Orange Egypt said Sunday that obtaining new telecom licenses will cost EGP 5.44 billion ($611 million), according to a bourse filing on Sunday.
Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority has set the value of 4G services at EGP 3.54 billion ($397 million), out of which 50% will be collected in dollar, the telecom operator added.
Moreover, the licenses of landline telephone and international voice communications services will be granted at EGP 100 million and EGP 1.8 billion respectively, the company clarified.
“Orange Egypt will chew over the price tag of the new licenses. In case of the board’s approval, the company will submit a request no later than the first week of August, 2016”, the bourse filing indicated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance estimated to raise EGP 2.8 billion through the new licenses in the fiscal year 2015/16.
