UAE - Mubasher: More than half of UAE residents will depend on online shopping and delivery services in the future after the coronavirus (COVID-19) ends, according to YouGov’s 2021 Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) report.
YouGov’s report analyses consumers’ attitudes to fast-moving and consumer packaged goods (CPG) across 17 global markets and the impact of COVID-19 on the FMCG/CPG sector across the world.
Based on more than 18,000 interviews, many consumers across the 17 surveyed markets confirmed that their shopping habits have changed during the pandemic.
A total of three-quarters of UAE residents also referred to the shift in their shopping habits due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, the pandemic has not stopped people from doing in-store shopping, as an average of 81% of consumers in the 17 markets bought groceries or household essentials in-store, the research shows.
Meanwhile, a large number of consumers have used the online medium to buy household items.
In the UAE, three-quarters bought items in-store during the pandemic, while over half used online shopping.
Moreover, three in five consumers across all 17 markets announced their intention to support local businesses and buy local products after the pandemic.
