Mubasher: The Qatari Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani said on Tuesday that the State of Qatar spending on major national projects reached QAR 56 billion in the first six months of the year.
The past two months saw signings of QAR 16 billion, said the prime minister, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The budget for the 2017 fiscal year will see an increase in spending on the state's big projects, something that will enhance economic growth in Qatar.
The government will focus on completing major projects in infrastructure, education, health as well as the projects tied to the World Cup 2022, the PM explained.
He also said that the number of listings in the stock market did not match the economic growth of the country and required further listings and initial public offerings in the future, during a meeting with the chairmen of companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).
The prime minister also said that a number of companies and investment funds will be listed in the coming period, he added that the government is encouraging family business to list their companies in the stock market.
The Prime Minister said that the cabinet is finalizing Qatar National Development Strategy 2017-2022, the second strategic plan in the process of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
