Mubasher: Panama has qualified for the World Cup for the first time ever after winning against Costa Rica 2-1 late Tuesday.
Following the win, Panama’s president declared Wednesday a national holiday, noting that public and private sector workers could take the day off and so can schools.
On the same line, Egypt qualified for the World Cup 2018 after it won against the Democratic Republic of Congo, also with 2-1.
Egypt last qualified for the World Cup in 1990, making the 2018-entry a victory for football fans, who have had their eyes on entering the World Cup competition for 28 years.
The World Cup 2018 will take place in Russia in June.
