Passengers of EgyptAir hijacked plane to return home – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathy said a plane will head at 12:30pm Cairo time to bring back the released hostages.

In a press conference, the minister stated that flight 181 took off from Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab at 6:30am and the pilot reported the hijacking at 7am approximately. The hijacked plane landed in Cyprus’s Larnaca airport at 7:50am.

Seven persons, out of 55 ones on the plane, are still held hostages, including the pilot, co-piolt, air flight attendant, a security officer, and other three passengers.

The minister conservatively responded to journalists’ questions, declining to uncover more information related to the hijacking for security reason and the progress of investigation
