Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Central Bank of the UAE on Wednesday announced that payments and transfers across the country were unaffected by recent events and that the UAE's financial system is strong, according to a statement.
The bank said it will continue to monitor the recent regional developments closely and take the necessary steps to maintain stability.
Banking sources told Mubasher on Tuesday that the central bank had not issued any instructions barring banks operating in the UAE from suspending transfers to and from Qatar; however, some banks have taken this step of their own accord.
On Monday, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the UAE, along with Yemen and Libya, announced cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism. The countries cut air, sea, and land transport links with Qatar.
