Riyadh – Mubasher: Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical's board announced on 28 September the completion of significant facilities of Rabigh Phase II Project.
The facilities include majority of electrical and non-electrical utilities; support services buildings, Ethane Cracker units which commenced operation earlier this year and Cumene & Phenol units.
Moreover, the board has also approved on extending the construction schedule for the remaining units, so that the last plant would be completed by the second quarter of 2017.
"The delay in these plants is due to the construction market challenges," according to a bourse filing on Thursday.
The Board estimated the cost of the project to increase to SAR 34 billion, to cover the cost impact of the schedule delay and scope changes.
