Port Said to become Egypt’s 1st digital governorate

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Sunday announced that Port Said will be the first digital governorate in the country.

The finance minister has decided to form a committee of financial accountants at the ministry and experts from the Egyptian Computer Center (ECC) to take requisite procedures to digitalise the internal system of all government entities in Port Said, according to a press release.

This step will be implemented in other governorates afterwards in a bid to keep up with the optimum financial digital system, the MoF noted.

The ministry plans to begin the digitalisation project in other governorates such as Kafr El Sheikh, Ismailia, and Suez, in preparation for applying the system in all governorates, the statement added.

The new system also aims at monitoring the public spending, in addition to supporting the government’s efforts to boost the efficiency of services and enhancing the state’s administrative body, the ministry said.
