Private deposits at Oman’s commercial banks up 5.6% in Jan

Mubasher: Private deposits at commercial banks operating in Oman rose 5.6% by the end of January to OMR 11.95 billion ($31.03 billion), compared to OMR 11.33 billion ($29.42 billion) in January 2015, according to the monthly statistical bulletin release by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).

Time deposits reached OMR 3.34 billion ($8.67 billion), savings deposits came to OMR 4.37 billion ($11.35 billion) and demand deposits arrived at OMR 3.95 billion ($10.26 billion).

The gross value included OMR 11.54 billion ($29.97 billion) and OMR 949.5 million ($2.47 billion) in foreign currencies.

Private deposits constitutes 67% of total deposits in commercial banks.
