Private deposits at Oman's commercial banks up 6.13%

Mubasher: Private deposits at Oman’s commercial banks rose by 6.13% to OMR 11.88 billion by the end of December 2015, compared with OMR 11.18 billion in the same period of 2014, according to a monthly bulletin by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).

As of the end of December 2015, the gross value of the private sector deposits covered time deposits of OMR 3.36 billion, savings deposits of OMR 4.39 billion and demand deposits of OMR 3.85 billion.

The bulletin also pointed out that the total value of the private sector deposits is divided into OMR 10.96 billion and an amount equal to OMR 909 million in foreign currencies.

The report said that the rate of foreign currency to the total deposits reached 12.4%, while the rates of foreign assets to total loans and total assets were 13.4% and 10.1%, respectively. The ratio of foreign liabilities to total liabilities was 16.7%.
