QCB’s foreign assets halve in October

Mubasher: The Qatar Central Bank’s (QCB) foreign assets slid 50.3% year-on-year (y-o-y) to QAR 62.6 billion ($17 billion) in October 2017 from QAR 125.8 billion ($ 34 billion) in the same period last year, the QCB said on Sunday.

The domestic assets increased 24.8% y-o-y to QAR 653 billion by the end of October, according to the bank’s monthly bulletin. 

Assets of commercial banks operating in Qatar declined to QAR 1.31 trillion in October 2017 versus QAR 1.33 trillion in the month earlier.

The central bank said that total domestic credit facilities jumped 11% y-o-y to QAR 728 billion in the same period.
