QE closes in red on blue chips

Doha- Mubasher: Qatar Stock Exchange (QE) saw a negative performance at the end of Tuesday's session, weighted down by blue chips.

The general index fell 0.16%, or 15.85 points, to 9,964.26 points.

The insurance sector retreated 1.11%, affected by Doha Insurance, which decreased 2.5%.

The real estate sector also slid 0.47% after Ezdan Holding lost 0.82%.

On the other hand, the transportation sector levelled up 0.49%, backed by the rise of Gulf Warehousing by 0.86%. The sector was the most active by trading 202,680 shares.

The banks and financial services sector grew after the positive performance of Qatar National Bank (QNB) and Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) 0.78% and 0.83%, respectively. Islamic Holding topped the gaining stocks by 9.87%.

The telecoms sector rose 0.31% and the industrials sector increased as Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company advanced 1.5%.

The Industrials' Qatar Electricity and Water Company was the most active with a turnover of QAR 26.41 million.

The consumer goods and services sector was the lowest among the gaining sectors in today's session by 0.08% on the back of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company, which edged up 1.37%, ignoring the decline of Zad Holding by 9.18%.

Trading volume fell to 1.9 million shares, compared to 2.3 million shares in Monday's session; trading value also shrank to QAR 100.29 million after QAR 106.4 million in the previous session.
