QE down 1.2% in week

Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange (QE) ended a three-weak gaining streak that saw it break the 9,000-point resistance level, and registered a negative performance this week, amidst weaker trade volumes.

The main index lost 1.18% and ended the week at the level of 9,088.01 points.

Market capital declined by 1.52% to QAR 506.18 billion, compared to QAR 513.97 bilion by the end of last week.

As for the market sector performance, five indices ended the week in red, led by real estate with 4.21%, telecom with 2.5%, and industry with 1.98%.

On the other hand, only two sector rose by the end of Thursday’s session as transport and consumer goods by 5.93% and 5.59%, respectively.

Traded volumes registered 56.06 million shares this week, down 8.75% from its level in the week before at 61.44 million shares.

Similarly, traded values dropped 7.6% to QAR 1.33 billion, from QAR 1.44 billion, with the total number of transactions decreasing by 2.92% to 19,310.
