QEWC finishes 62% of Umm Al Haul project

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) almost finished 62% of Umm Al Haul project with investment cost amount to QAR 11 billion, said Jamal Al Khalaf, CEO of Umm Al Haul.

Umm Al Haul project is set to be Qatar’s biggest integrated water and power project (IWPP).

QEWC completed nearly 71% of the project’s offshore works in addition to supplying and installing all the station’s turbines, added CEO.

Umm Al Haul station expected to cover 25% and 30% of Qatar’s needs of electricity and water respectively.

The project is be set up on the southern side of Qatar and its total estimated cost amounts to QAR3 billion, with a capacity of generating 2520mw electricity and 136.5mlgd (million gallons a day) of potable water.
