Doha – Mubasher: Qatar Electricity and Water Company’s (QEWC) starting operating the first phase of one of the region’s largest water distillation project, said Fahad Bin Hamad Al Mohannadi, Managing Director.
The project comes as a part of Ras Abu Fontas station for generating electricity and distillation of water.
Ras Abu Fontas station has water desalination capacity of 36 MIGD with investment cost of $405 million, noted Fahad according to a bourse statement.
The QEWC is second largest utility in North Africa and the Middle East. It is the main supplier of electricity and desalinated water in Qatar with a market share of 62% of electricity and 79 % of the water.
