QEWC unit sets up power firm in Netherlands

Doha – Mubasher: Nebras Power, a subsidiary of Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) announced on Monday that it has established a power company named Nebras Power Netherlands BV.

The new company will be fully owned by Nebras Power and based in Netherlands, according to a bourse statement.

Nebras said that its international business hub in the Netherlands has been incorporated with the purpose to invest in the global power and utilities market space, adding that its investment portfolio will include a number of power generating assets across the Middle East, North Africa and South East Asia by the end of 2016.

QEWC’s Board Chairman, Fahad Al-Mohannadi, said, ''Nebras operates very closely with its shareholders and enjoys their full support as well as the support of the Board of Directors. Nebras aims at building an investment portfolio of more than 5 GW net by the next five years and plays a key role under the State of Qatar’s diversification strategy,”

Nebras Power was established in 2014 with a capital of QAR 3.65 million.
