QP inks 3-yr naphth supply deal with Indian HPL

Mubasher: Qatar Petroleum (QP) on Wednesday announced signing a 3-year naphtha feedstock sale agreement with India’s Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL).

Under the agreement, QP will supply HPL, which is located in West Bengal, with a total of 600,000 tonnes of Light Naphtha starting from 2018, according to QP’s statement.

“India is a very important country and energy partner for Qatar and we are proud of our longstanding excellent partnership,” Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, president and CEO of QP, commented.

The long-term supply deal is the first of its type to an end-user in India, Qatar's state-run firm noted, giving no further details on its value.

“Qatar supplies Indian end-users with LNG, crude oil, condensate, LPG and other fuels; and we are proud to be able to strengthen our energy relations with India through HPL as an energy partner for the direct supply of naphtha feedstock,” Al-Kaabi added.

HPL is considered one of the largest petrochemical companies in India that has a competitive modern naphtha-based Petrochemical Complex,  with a total capacity equivalent to 700,000 tons per annual of ethylene.
