QSE adds 124 pts Wednesday

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday’s trading session in the green, supported by the growth of the banking sector.

The general index jumped 124.19 points, or 1.26%, to finish at 9,964.37 points.

The bourse’s liquidity surged to QAR 1.17 billion on Wednesday from QAR 86.5 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume increased to 5.96 million shares against 2.97 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 1.48% due to the heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) 2.21% growth.

Similarly, the industrial sector rose 1.40% as Industries Qatar levelled up 2.33%.

By the end of Wednesday’s session, QNB’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 63.4 million, while Qatar Gas Transport’s (Nakilat) stock, which advanced 0.22%, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 1.1 million shares.
