QSE adds 38 pts amid heavy liquidity Monday

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index grew 38.36 points, or 0.36%, to close at 10,727.53 points on Monday.

The QSE’s liquidity leaped to QAR 1.39 billion on Monday, from QAR 148.47 million in the previous session, while trading volume hiked to 8.47 million shares, compared to 5.60 million on Sunday.

The transportation sector led gainers with 2.92%, headed by Qatar Gas Transport which advanced 4.58%.

Meanwhile, the banking sector edged up 0.07% after Qatar Oman Investment rose 2.66%, while Ahli Bank fell 3.06%.

On the other hand, the insurance sector was the only decliner with 0.74% as Al Khaleej Takaful Insurance retreated 2.96%.

The heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock, down 0.26%, registered the highest trading value of QAR 39.3 million, while Qatar Aluminium Manufacturing’s (QAMCO) stock, which added 1.65%, led the bourse in terms of trading volume with 1.9 million shares.
