QSE adds 50 pts at Sunday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s trading session in the green, encouraged by the growth of six sectors, amid thin liquidity.

The general index rose 0.57%, or 50.47 points, to finish at 8,930.98 points.

The QSE’s liquidity slid to QAR 401.13 million on Sunday from QAR 3.51 billion on Thursday, while the trading volume decreased to 11.42 million shares against 95.24 million in the previous session.

The transportation sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 2.74% as Qatar Navigation and Gulf Warehousing Company rose 7.48% and 0.82%, respectively.

Similarly, the banking sector went up 0.58% on the back of the growth of National Leasing Holding Company and the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) by 7.46% and 0.44%, respectively.

The industrial sector jumped 0.16% after Industries Qatar increased 0.97%.

On the flipside, the real estate sector was the bourse’s only decliner losing 0.84% as United Development Company retreated 0.97%.

By the end of the session, Qatar Navigation’s stock led the QSE in terms of trading volume with 3.9 million shares, while QNB’s stock headed the market in terms of liquidity with QAR 103.3 million.
