QSE breaks 5-day gaining run, hurt by industrial sector

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday’s trading in red after closing in green for five sessions in a row.

The main index fell 1.52% or 146.6 points to the level of 9,486.7 points, the All Share Index slipped 1.40% to 2,259.68 points and Al Rayan Islamic Index decreased 1.31% to 3,666.1 points.

Trading volume came to 5.29 million shares exchanged through 4,282 trades, versus 8.97 shares traded yesterday in 5,042 transactions.

Turnover fell today by 33% to QAR 212.33 million from QAR 317.1 million on Tuesday.

The industrial sector was the worst performer after dropping 3.17%, while transportation came alone in the green list with a growth of 0.51%.

Gulf warehousing topped gainers by adding 5.51%, whereas Gulf International was the weakest share as it slipped 10%.

QNB led in value with QAR 26.46 million, while Ezdan dominated the volume chart with 1.11 million traded shares.

Yesterday, the main index recorded its fifth rise in a row, as it advanced 0.9% or 85.5 points to 9,633.32 points.
