QSE closes Monday up amid high liquidity

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Monday’s trading in the green, encouraged by the growth of five sectors, amid high liquidity.

The general index inched up 0.02%, or 2.20 points, to finish at 9,157.57 points.

The QSE’s liquidity hiked to QAR 591.61 million on Monday from QAR 229.08 million on Sunday, while the trading volume levelled up to 14.66 million shares against 12.37 million in the previous session.

The goods and services sector topped the QSE’s gainers adding 1.79% as Qatar Fuel rose 3.53%.

The telecommunication sector went up 1.43%, boosted by Vodafone Qatar’s 2.9% increase, while the industrial sector grew 0.47% as Qatari Investors Group rose 1.82%.

Meanwhile, the banking sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 0.36% due to Qatar Oman Investment’s 3.66% drop.

The transportation sector went down 0.05% as Qatar Gas Transport declined 0.62%.

By the end of the session, Vodafone Qatar’s stock headed the market in terms of trading volume with 5.9 million shares, generating QAR 56.8 million in a liquidity.
