Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Thursday up, after gaining 0.74% or 67.92 points to reach 9,257.9 points.
The insurance sector rose 2.62% and the industrials sector increased 1.2% as Qatar Industrials Manufacturing Company (QIMC) and Gulf International Services went up 5.91% and 2.97%, respectively.
The transportation sector levelled up 1% after Qatar Navigation (Milaha) gained 3.05% and Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd (Nakilat) grew 0.35%, while the banks sector rose 0.14%.
The telecoms sector increased 0.34% as Vodafone Qatar surged 6.66%, whereas Ooredoo shed 0.84% after Standard and Poor’s (S&P) on Wednesday downgraded its credit rating to "AAA-".
Doha Insurance Group was the best performer with 8.5%, whereas Al Khaleej Takaful Group led losers with 6.56%.
Traded volume rose to 26.66 million shares on Thursday against 16.32 million shares on Wednesday, while liquidity soared to QAR 644.43 million from QAR 349.94 million.
Vodafone Qatar’s stock led in terms of trading value with 12.5 million shares exchanged, while Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock was the most active in terms of traded value with a turnover of QAR 115.89 million.
Earlier on Thursday, the benchmark index fell 0.13% or 11.53 points, reaching 9,178.55 points.
