QSE closes Thursday in red, trading hikes

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Thursday in red, pressured by a drop in four sectors.

The main index fell 0.22% or 18.29 points to 8,409.48 points.

The transportation sector led the losers with 2.96%, dragged down by the top loser Qatar Navigation with 8.77%.

The industrial sector also dropped 0.01%, as many stocks declined, led by Qatari Investors with 7.88%.

On the other hand, the real estate sector led the gainers with 1.31%, on the back of Ezdan and United Development with 2.24% and 1.26%, respectively.

The banks sector also grew 0.43%, supported by six stocks, led by the top gainer Commercial Bank with 3.44%.

Trading activities boosted, with turnover increasing to QAR 491.29 million, its highest level in six months, versus QAR 206.38 million the day before.

Trading volume also rose to 11.89 million shares, its highest level in three months, from 11.89 million shares.

Aamal’s stock, down 7.12%, was the most active regarding the trading volume, with 3.6 million shares, while Qatar Navigation achieved the highest traded value with QAR 98.3 million.
