QSE closes Thursday up, general index rises 5.07 pts

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Thursday's trading session in the green for the fifth session in a row, amid heavy liquidity.

The general index inched up 0.06%, or 5.07 points, to 8,211.94 points.

On Thursday, Market capitalisation rose 0.4% to QAR 453.4 billion versus QAR 451.6 billion on Wednesday.

Liquidity levelled up to QAR 404.99 million from QAR 331.2 in the last session, while the trading volume declined to 15.33 million shares from 20.43 million shares on 13 December.

Three sectors topped the gainers, spearheaded by the real estate sector which added 1.5%. United Development Company and Ezdan Holding Group's stocks jumped 5.35% and 1.79%, respectively.

The banking sector advanced 0.45%, while Qatar Oman Investment Company’s stock surged 8.85%.

On the flipside, four sectors dropped, led by the industrial sector with 0.29% after Qatar Electricity and Water Company’s stock shrank 2.75%.

Ezdan Holding Group was the most actively-traded stock on the QSE in terms of volume with 1.7 million shares, while Qatar National Bank (QNB), 0.73% up, topped the bourse in terms of liquidity with QAR 78.1 million.
