QSE closes Tuesday higher

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Tuesday’s trading in the green, encouraged by the growth of three sectors, amid heavy liquidity.

The general index inched up 0.01%, or 1.16 points, to finish the mid-week session at 9,126.40 points.

The bourse’s liquidity increased to QAR 791.54 million on Tuesday from QAR 646.43 million on Monday, while the trading volume decreased to 11.09 million shares against 12.03 million in the previous session.

The insurance sector topped the QSE’s gainers adding 0.68%, boosted by Al Khaleej Takaful Group and Qatar Insurance which added 4.44% and 0.94%, respectively.

The banking sector rose 0.36% as the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) grew 0.47%.

On the flipside, the industrial sector headed the bourse’s losers falling 0.68%, dragged by Aamal’s 2.82% drop.

By the end of the session, QNB’s stock, which hit the highest since November 2014, led the market in terms of trading volume with 2.8 million shares, generating QAR 455.04 million in liquidity.
