QSE closes on negative note

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s session falling by 0.02% or 1.8 point to the level of 10,355.53 points.

The index was pressured by the fall in Industries Qatar, Qatar Insurance, Ooredoo, and Qatar Electricity and Water by 0.75%, 1.04%, 0.32% and 0.23% respectively.

Trading volume decreased to 2.44 million shares from 6.08 million shares exchanged on Thursday, turnover also shrank to QAR 65.84 million from QAR 203.57 million.

The insurance sector was the worst performer after falling by 0.93% as Qatar Islamic Insurance topped decliners with a drop of 3.1%, while Al Khaleej Takaful led the green list by adding 1.5%.

The industrial and telecom sectors also declined by 0.47% and 0.25% respectively.

On the flipside, the real estate sector increased 0.38%, the transportation sector leapt 0.27%, the banks sector grew 0.16% and the consumer goods sector rose 0.06%.

Vodafone Qatar led the trading activity with a volume of 1.24 million shares exchanged at QAR 13.56 million.
