QSE drops 103 pts at Thursday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index fell 103.03 points, or 1.04%, to close at 9,781.18 points on Thursday.

The QSE’s liquidity dropped to QAR 222.25 million on Thursday, from QAR 241.77 million in the previous session, while trading volume retreated to 7.42 million shares, compared to 7.58 million on Wednesday.

The real estate sector led decliners, shedding 2.62% as Ezdan Holding Group went down 3.81%.

The industrials sector slid 1.14% as Qatar Electricity and Water tumbled 5.42% after its ordinary general assembly (OGM) approved distributing cash dividends of QAR 7.75 per share for fiscal year 2018 and splitting the share’s nominal value to QAR 1 from QAR 10.

Meanwhile, the banking sector fell 0.92% after the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) dropped 1.32%.

Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution headed fallers with 9.91%, while Doha Insurance Group topped gainers and grew 2.57%.

Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding’s stock, which added 0.84%, registered the highest trading volume of 1.29 million shares, while Industries Qatar, down 1.49%, led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 25.59 million.
