QSE drops 179 pts at Thursday's close

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index fell 178.75 points, or 1.67%, to close at 10,505.19 points on Thursday.

The QSE’s liquidity retreated to QAR 206.53 million by the end of the last session of this week, from QAR 263.98 million in the previous session, while trading volume declined to 8.62 million shares, compared to 9.04 million on Wednesday.

The industrials sector plunged 1.62%, pressured by Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding which fell 2.12%.

Meanwhile, the banking sector dropped 1.26%, after the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) tumbled 1.55%.

United Development Co. (UDC) headed fallers with 6.75%, while Qatari German for Medical Devices led gainers after adding 4.10%.

UDC’s stock led the bourse in terms of trading volume and value after 2.96 million shares were traded, generating QAR 47.56 million in liquidity.

It is worth mentioning that UDC’s profits dropped 6.9% to QAR 500.8 million in 2018, compared to QAR 538.4 million in the prior year.
