QSE drops for 2 consecutive weeks

Mubasher: The Qatar Securities Exchange (QSE) ended the week on Thursday, 28 September, at the same decline pace of the week before.

Over the week, the general index dropped 0.58% or 48.34 points to 8,312.43 points, versus 8,360.77 the week before.

Market capitalization fell by 0.40% to reach QAR 454.6 billion as compared to QAR 456.4 billion at the end of previous week.

Trading value during this week increased by 17.96% to reach QAR 1.2 billion compared to QAR 1.06 billion.

Trading volume decreased by 2.65% to reach 56.9 million shares, as against 58.5 million shares, however; the number of transactions rose by 29.53%, to reach 15,702 transactions as compared to 12,122 transactions.

The Banks and Financial Services sector led trading value during this week, with 47.75% of the total trading value, followed by the industrials sector, with 21.51%, the real estate with 11.56%, and the telecoms sector, which accounted for 7.45%.

The industrials sector led trading volume, acquiring 32.82% of the total trading volume, followed by the banks with 30.98%, the real estate with 15.97%, and finally the telecoms sector with 13.16%.

During the week, 21 shares declined, led by Qatar Insurance with 8.35%, while 23 stocks rose, topped by Mannai with 10.46%, with only one sector remained unchanged.

The QNB led trading value during this week, with 23.38% of the total trading value, followed by Investment Holding, and Al Rayan, with 9% and 6.58%, respectively.
