Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Monday’s trading in the green, encouraged by the growth of six sectors, amid heavy trade.
The general index rose 87.12 points, or 1%, to finish at 8,889.92 points.
The QSE’s liquidity increased to QAR 335.93 million on Monday from QAR 315.57 million on Sunday, while the trading volume rose to 15.84 million shares against 11.88 million in the previous session.
By the end of Monday’s session, market capitalisation increased 1.8% to QAR 486.89 billion, compared to QAR 478.29 billion in the previous session.
The insurance sector topped the market’s six gainers adding 7.2% as Qatar insurance hiked 7.84%, while the industrial sector levelled up 1.60% after Aamal Company grew 4.21%.
The banking sector jumped 1.05%, pushed up by Qatar National Bank (QNB) which advanced 1.75%.
On the flipside, the transportation sector was the bourse’s only decliner falling 0.13% on the back of Qatar Navigation’s 6.44% drop.
Vodafone Qatar’s stock led the market in terms of trading volume with 4.7 million shares, while Qatar Insurance’s stock topped the bourse in terms of liquidity with QAR 48.9 million.
