QSE ends Sunday down; services, real estate weigh

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Monday’s trading session 0.25%, or 25.51 points down to reach 10,064.35 points.

Five sectors dropped led by the services sector with 1.58% as Qatar Fuel (Woqod), Widam Foods Co, and Medicare Group shed 2.97%, 1.56%, and 1.13%, respectively.

The real estate sector declined 0.94% after Ezdan Holding Group lost 1.44% and Barwa Real Estate decreased 0.29%.

The insurance sector went down 0.88%, while the transportation sector tumbled 0.53% as Qatar Navigation (Milaha) and Nakilat fell 0.71% and 0.50%, respectively.

On the other hand, two sectors rose topped by the industrials sector, which gained 0.33% after Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company increased 1.27%, followed by Industries Qatar with 0.77%, and Gulf International Services with 0.39%.

National Leasing Holding Company (Alijarah) was the worst performer, falling 3.31%, whereas Qatar Islamic Insurance led risers with 3.12%.

Traded volume rose to 11.76 million shares on Sunday against 9.9 million shares on Thursday, while liquidity dropped to QAR 223.91 million from QAR 276.68 million in the previous session.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock was the most active in terms of trading volume with 4.52 million shares, while the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) led in terms of trading value with QAR 46.04 million.

Earlier on Sunday, the main index fell 0.22% reaching 10,068.01 points.
