QSE ends Sunday in green

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Sunday’s trading session in positive territory, after four straight losses, encouraged by the growth of six sectors.

The general index rose 102.27 points, or 1.16%, to finish at 8,908.03 points.

By the end of the session, the QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 182.72 million from QAR 203.55 million on Thursday, while the trading volume decreased to 10.27 million shares against 6.11 million in the previous session.

The telecommunication sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 4.02% as Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar jumped 4.04% and 4%, respectively.

Similarly, the banking sector levelled up 0.87% after the growth of National Leasing Holding and heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) by 5.90% and 0.58%, respectively.

On the flipside, the insurance sector was the bourse’s only loser falling 1.16%, pressured by Doha Insurance’s 6.70% drop.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock headed the market in terms of trading volume with 4.9 million shares, generating QAR 44.3 million in a liquidity.
