QSE ends Thursday on positive note

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Thursday’s trading session in positive territory, supported by the growth of four sectors.

The general index rose 0.35%, or 35.53 points, to finish at 10,193.01 points.

By the end of the last session this week, the bourse’s liquidity decreased to QAR 180.63 million on Thursday from QAR 309.03 million on Wednesday, while the trading volume plunged to 4.59 million shares against 7.90 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 0.63% as Ahli Bank and the heavyweight Qatar National Bank grew 5.08% and 0.77%, respectively.

Similarly, the industrial inched up 0.10% due to Qatar National Cement’s 2.67% increase.

On the negative side, the transportation sector headed the bourse’s losers falling 0.37% as Qatar Gas Transport (Nakilat) and Gulf Warehousing declined 1.06% and 0.42%, respectively.

By the end of the session, QNB’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 57.34 million, while Doha Bank’s stock, which advanced 1.81%, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 574,490 shares.
