QSE ends Thursday up, backed by banks

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Thursday in green, on the back of the growth in three sectors, led by the banks.

The main index rose 0.1% or 8.25 points to 8,342.09 points.

The insurance sector topped the gainers with 1.16%, pushed up by the rise in four stocks, led by Alkhaleej Takaful with 5.99%.

The banks sector also hiked 0.45%, supported by seven stocks, led by Al Khalij Commercial Bank with 3.3%, and QNB with 0.57%, after announcing positive quarterly results.

On the other hand, four sectors dropped, led by the industrials with 0.29%, dragged down by the drop in many stocks, especially the Investors with 3%.

Turnover jumped to QAR 207.32 million from QAR 146.71 million, while traded volume slid to 7.58 million shares from 8.22 million shares.

Qatar First Bank’s stock, down 0.15%, topped the trading activity with 1.4 million shares traded, while QNB achieved the highest liquidity at QAR 58 million.
