QSE ends Tuesday down; insurance, telecoms weigh

Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Tuesday in the red zone, after losing 0.46% or 40.88 points to reach 8,895.64 points.

The insurance sector decreased 5.38%, and the telecoms sector lost 3.19% as Ooredoo fell 3.81%.

The banks sector dropped 0.89% after Qatar National Bank (QNB) and National Leasing Holding (Alijarah) declined 3.07% and 2.18%, respectively.

Qatar Insurance Company retreated 6.73%, whereas Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd (Nakilat) led risers as it surged 10%.

Trading volume rose to 13.01 million shares on Tuesday against 9.83 million shares on Monday, whereas liquidity declined to QAR 288.49 million from QAR 290.71 million.

Gulf International Services’ stock was the most active in terms of traded volume with 2.52 million shares exchanged, generating QAR 52.49 million.

Earlier on Tuesday, the benchmark index levelled up 1.23% or 109.52 points to reach 9,046.04 points.
