QSE ends Tuesday in decline

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Tuesday’s trading session with negative performance, pressured by the fall of five sectors, amid low liquidity.

The general index declined 81.34 points, or 0.78%, to finish the mid-week session at 10,376.94 points.

The bourse’s liquidity decreased to QAR 204.95 million on Tuesday from QAR 330.29 million on Monday, while the trading volume levelled down to 6.42 million shares against 8.39 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 2.09% as the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) plunged 3.74%, while the industrial sector retreated 0.49% on the back of Qatar Electricity and Water’s 1.46% drop.

On the other hand, the real estate sector headed the bourse’s risers adding 1.33% as Ezdan Holding Group and Barwa Real Estate Development grew 2.27% and 0.37%, respectively.

By the end of the session, QNB’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 52.3 million, while Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which rose 0.875, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 737,300 shares.
