QSE ends Tuesday in red

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Tuesday’s trading in negative territory, for the fifth session in a row, dragged down by four sectors.

The general index inched down 17.93 points, or 0.21%, to finish the mid-week session at 8,693.98 points.

The QSE’s liquidity increased to QAR 189.59 million on Tuesday from QAR 158.74 million on Monday, while the trading volume rose to 7.30 million shares against 6.78 million in the previous session.

The insurance sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 3.02% as Qatar Islamic Insurance slid 9.53%.

Likewise, the banking sector decreased 0.18% after Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) went down 8.05%.

On the positive side, the goods sector topped the bourse’s three gainers adding 0.30%, backed by Al Meera Consumer Goods which rose 2.06%.

Qatar First Bank’s stock, which levelled down 3.11%, led the market in terms of trading volume with 1.68 million, while Masraf Al Rayan’s stock, which declined 0.53%, topped the bourse in terms of liquidity with QAR 34.19 million.
