QSE ends Tuesday in red

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Tuesday in negative territory, after three straight rises, dragged down by the fall of the transportation and industrial sectors, coinciding with the fall of trades.

The general index inched down 0.08%, or 7.40 points, to close the mid-week session at 8,721.75 points.

The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 229.20 million on Tuesday from QAR 310.02 million on Monday, while the trading volume went down to 10.22 million shares against 15.14 million in the previous session.

The industrial sector led the QSE’s decliners falling 0.86% as Qatar National Cement went down 1.79%, while the transportation sector levelled down after Qatar Navigation dropped 0.9%.

On the positive side, the banking sector topped the bourse’s gainers adding 0.10%, backed by Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) which added 0.29%.

Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development’s stock, which declined 1.60%, led the market in terms of trading volume with 1.7 million shares, while QNB’s stock headed the bourse in terms of liquidity with QAR 32.7 million.
