Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday’s trading session 0.39% or 40.34 points lower reaching 10,295.96 points.
The insurance sector lost 1.01% after Al Khaleej Takaful Group shed 2.5%, and Qatar Islamic Insurance decreased 2.09%.
The telecoms sector tumbled 0.94% as Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar went down 0.94%, and 0.92%, respectively.
The transportation sector decreased 0.92% after Gulf Warehousing, Nakilat, and Qatar Navigation weighed down 1.88%, 1.1%, and 0.27%, respectively.
The industrials sector fell 0.88% dragged by Qatar Industrials Manufacturing Company which lost 2%, followed by Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) with 1.31%, Industries Qatar with 1.26%, and Qatar National Cement with 0.63%.
On the other hand, the banks sector edged up 0.08% led by Al Khalij Commercial Bank with 1.82%,while Al Ahli Bank gained 1.45%, and Islamic Holding Group went up 1.38%.
Liquidity dropped to QAR 176.65 million on Wednesday against QAR 226.73 million on Tuesday, while trading volume decreased to 8 million shares against 10.68 million shares in the previous session.
Vodafone Qatar’s stock led in terms of trading volume and value with 2.51 million shares exchanged at a value of QAR 24.25 million.
Earlier on Wednesday, the benchmark index slipped 0.2% to 10,315.55 points.
