QSE ends Wednesday in red amid low liquidity

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday's trading session in the red, dragged lower by the fall of five sectors, coinciding with thin liquidity.

The general index fell 104.47 points, or 1.16%, to finish at 8,873.38 points.

The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 278.51 million on Wednesday from QAR 521.45 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume went down to 11.73 million shares against 23.95 million in the previous session.

The industrial sector topped the QSE’s decliners falling 1.01% as Gulf International went down 2.83%.

The banking sector levelled down 0.67% after Qatar National Bank (QNB) decreased 1.23%.

Meanwhile, the insurance sector topped the bourse’s gainers adding 1.11%, backed by Doha Insurance’s 8.70% hike.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which advanced 1.28%, led the market in terms of trading volume with 1.8 million shares, while QNB’s stock topped the bourse in terms of liquidity with QAR 23.9 million.
