Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday in negative territory, dragged down by the fall of three sectors, chief among them was the real estate segment.
The general index inched down 14.08 points, or 0.16%, to finish at 8,707.67 points.
The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 204.05 million on Wednesday from QAR 229.20 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume went up to 11.92 million shares against 10.22 million in the previous session.
The insurance sector topped the QSE’s decliners falling 2.73%, pressured by Doha Insurance Group which went down 5.2%.
Similarly, the real estate sector levelled down 2.18% after Ezdan Holding Group dropped 2.66%.
On the positive side, the banking sector topped the bourse’s gainers adding 0.10% as Qatar National Bank grew 0.46%.
The industrial sector inched up 0.07% after Industries Qatar rose 0.92%.
Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which advanced 3.98%, led the market in terms of trading volume of 4.8 million shares, generating QAR 43.9 million in a turnover.
