Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday in negative territory, pressured by the fall of six sectors.
The general index declined 45.90 points, or 0.52%, to finish at 8,824.26 points.
By the end of the session, the QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 155.94 million from QAR 191.44 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume went down to 5.48 million shares against 9.19 million in the previous session.
The insurance sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 1.74%, dragged by Al Khaleej Takaful which dropped 7.89%.
Similarly, the banking sector went down 0.70% after heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) fell 1.07%.
On the flipside, the industrial sector was the bourse’s only gainer adding 0.08% as Industries Qatar rose 0.99%.
Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which levelled down 0.66%, led the QSE in terms of trading volume with 1.1 million shares, while Industries Qatar’s stock headed the market in terms of liquidity with QAR 19.4 million.
