QSE ends week in red; 4 sectors weigh

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed the week ended Thursday, 25 October on a low note, dragged lower by four sectors.

The general index shed 0.39% or 39.65 points to close at 10,153.36 points.

Market capitalisation edged 0.18% higher to close at QAR 570.1 billion ($158 billion) from last week’s QAR 569.1 billion ($157.8 billion).

The telecom sector pressured the QSE’s benchmark index, after falling 3.3%, followed by goods with 2.9%, while insurance and industrials decreased 1.7% each.

On the positive side, three sectors ended the week in the green, led by transport with 1.9%, banks with 1.5%, and real estate with 1.1%.

Twenty-eight stocks ended the week in the red, led by Qatar First Bank (QFB), which plunged 7.7%, while 14 stocks ended higher, led by Milaha’s 5.04% rise, whereas three stocks were stable.

Turnover fell 4.4% to QAR 952.5 million from QAR 995.9 million last week, while traded volume grew 4.7% to 32.7 million shares against 31.2 million. The QSE’s weekly transactions fell 12.2% to 17,700 deals versus 20,200 deals last week.
