QSE erases earlier losses, ends Monday in green

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Monday on a high note after erasing losses incurred earlier in the session.

The QSE’s benchmark index gained 0.34% or 34.77 points to close at 10,367.54 points, backed by four of the bourse’s sectors particularly banks.

Turnover increased to QAR 233.88 million on Monday from QAR 219.64 million on Sunday, while volumes fell to 11.80 million shares exchanged against 13.93 million.

The banking sector led risers, adding 0.84% after seven stocks traded higher, with Qatar National Bank (QNB) adding 1.03%.

The industrial sector edged up 0.17% after Qatar National Cement increased 1.74%, whereas Qatar Aluminum (QAMCO) dropped 3.33%, leading the QSE’s fallers.

On the flipside, the insurance sector shed 1.32% after Qatar Insurance and Doha Insurance fell 2.09% and 0.16%, respectively. The sector shrugged off Al Khaleej Takaful Insurance’s sharp gain of 4.78%.

QAMCO was the most active on the QSE on Monday, logging QAR 95.2 million in turnover after 6.7 million shares changed hands through 5,200 transactions.
