QSE falls 17 pts at Sunday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s trading session in the red, dragged down by the fall of three sectors.

The general index inched down 17.56 points, or 0.19%, to finish the first session of the week at 9,224.74 points.

The bourse’s liquidity decreased to QAR 239.69 million on Sunday from QAR 435.14 million on Thursday, while the trading volume went down to 4.95 million shares against 9.59 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s decliners losing 0.57% as Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) levelled down 2.71%.

Similarly, the transportation sector retreated 0.39% after Qatar Navigation dropped 2.01%.

On the other hand, the real estate sector headed the bourse’s four risers adding 1.84% as Ezdan Holding Group went up 2.83%.

By the end of the session, Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which advanced 0.23%, led the QSE in terms of trading volume with 687,700 shares, while the heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock, which declined 0.63%, spearheaded the market in terms of liquidity with QAR 69.8 million.
