QSE gains 171 points last week in 2015

Doha – Mubasher:  The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) benchmark index closed the last week in December and 2015 in positive territory, as it grew 1.66% or about 170.64 points to the level of 10,429.39 points.

Also, Al Rayan Islamic Index rose 1.50% to 3,855.82 points and the All Shares Index moved up 1.62% to 2,776.78 points.  

The total value of traded shares dropped 1.66% to QAR 940.83 million, versus QAR 956.73 million last week.

Similarely, traded shares fell 14.24% to 23.97 million shares, against about 27.95 million shares exchanged last week.

Still on a the negative front, the number of transactions slipped 12.78% to about 13,560, compared to around 15,550 last week.

Meanwhile, the total market value edged up 2.14% to QAR 553.14 billion, versus QAR 541.59 billion last week.

The week’s weakest sector was insurance that slid 3.25% while the industrial sector was the strongest as it pocketed up 4.74%.

As the weekly trades saw 42 shares changing hands, advancers beat decliners by 27 to 13 while two closed on a flat note.

Gulf International led the week’s trading as it took over 17.78% share in the market’s total trading value, followed by Industries Qatar and Qatar National Bank with 11.88% and 8.18%, respectively.

The main index closed last week’s trading session higher 3.49% or about 345.80 points to 10,258.72 points.
