QSE gains 195 pts in week

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed the week ended 13 August in the green, supported by the massive increase of all sectors.

The general index increased 1.99%, or 195.12 points, to close the week at 10,021.96 points.

Market value went up to QAR 553.9 billion over the week, from QAR 543.5 billion in the prior week.

The bourse’s liquidity jumped 56.2% to QAR 958.3 million from QAR 613.3 million the previous week, while the number of transactions grew 34.4% to 16,150 against 12,010.

On the other hand, the market’s trading volume decreased by 1.5% to 27.4 million shares this week versus 27.9 million last week.

The transportation sector topped the QSE’s gainers adding 4.6%, followed by the goods and industrial sectors, which levelled up by 3.5% and 2.4%, respectively.

Similarly, the real estate sector advanced 2%, followed by the banking, insurance and telecommunication sectors, rising 1.5%, 1.2%, and 0.94%, respectively.

During the week, 28 stocks increased, spearheaded by Widam Food Company, which rose 14.5%, while 14 stocks dropped topped by Doha Insurance’s 6.5% plunge, while three sectors were stable.
